About Coffee in Nepal

Coffee is a high value cash crop with environmental importance and is being popular among Nepalese people since last few decades It has been spreading in over 33 districts of the middle hill Zones.  

Therefore, Coffee also is to be commercially producing in many parts of the country, based on feasibility study and action research followed by the NTCDB. However, there is great potentiality for Coffee cultivation in hills, due to suitable climate, topography, Soil Structure, relative humidity, Temperature and Rainfall for both type of Arabica and Robusta. Some Districts like Gulmi, Palpa, Argakhanchi, Jhapa, Lalitpur,Tanahu, Lamjung, Kaski, Gorkha, Syangja, Parbat,Myagdi are successfully growing and producing Coffee beans and is increasing gradually. This will certainly help in diversifying process and will increase the income of the farmers as well as other individuals involved in processing and marketing.

Nepal Exports the Coffee bean mostly in Japan, Germany and other countries according to the demand in a favourable price. The data showing the existing conditions of Nepalese Coffee sector since last five years is as under.
