To accomplish and simplify the cultivation and manufacturing of Tea and coffee, production of high quality and quantity, implementing modern technology and marketing management like Export and Import a solid rule and regulation was necessary to establish and run. The National Tea and coffee Development Board was Constituted on 2050/02/20 (1993/06/02 AD) under the NTCDB Act 2049 (1992 A.D.) by His Majesty's Government. It's main objective is to formulate plans and policies for the development of Tea and Coffee at the national level and to strengthen the public, private and the small sectors involved in the Tea and Coffee industry.

To formulate and recommend production, processing, market promotion, import and export policies relating to Tea and Coffee industry and cause to implement approved policies. |

To identify problems in Tea and Coffee development and recommend measures to solve them. |

To manage the supply of inputs for Tea and Coffee cultivation as well as processing. |

To provide Training and Technical support to individuals and institution envolved in Tea |

and Coffee development through the establishment of Training and Research Centers. |

To conduct study for the development of Tea and Coffee sector. |

To co-ordinate institution in Tea and Coffee sector. |

To provide other necessary support to Tea and Coffee. |



Under the chairmanship of the Honorable Minister of Agriculture, the Board has an Executive committee, which consists of 17 members from various Ministries, Organizations and private sectors. The Executive Director of the Board is nominated by the His Majesty's of Government and serves as the chief Administrator of the Board. The Executive Director will also be the Member secretary of the executive committee.

3. Subsidies on cutting transportation for the small farmers

6. Selection of pocket areas for Tea and Coffee
7. Fixing a minimum price of coffee to support the farmers
8. Promoting farmers and entrepreneurs
9. Group mobilization through group formation for Tea and Coffee Development
10. Farmers training in different stage of Tea and Coffee
11. Quality testing
12. Assist HMG in policy formulation.

1. Market Survey
Local demand and the means of Supply and consumption pattern were studied in Biratnagar, Narayanghat, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Pokhara, Nepalganj and Dhangari, the important market places of Nepal.2. Feasibility Study
Tea and Coffee feasibility study has been carried out so far in the Taplejung, Sankhuwashabha, Bhojpur, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchok, Nuwakot and Sunsari Districts and wherever it was found feasible, The Board encouraged and motivated private enterprises and local small holders to plant Tea and Coffee.3. Training
Training in Tea and Coffee has been carried out more than 50 times in project offices and interested area and about 5000 farmers were benefited.
Six board's staff are trained under abroad training program yet.4. Farmers Benefit Programs
Educational visit for tea farmers are conducted for more than 13 times in various tea gardens. About 255 farmers are benefited through this program by learning about the tea farming system.
Thirty-two Tea Farmers Groups were associated throughout the nation.
More than 1 million tea-cuttings are distributed to the farmers.5. National Tea day Festival
Every 15th of Baisakh is declared as 'Tea Day', since 1998 as the new crop comes in that month and goes to the market abroad6. Workshop
NTCDB has organized different type of workshop/seminar in every year, Expert and qualified personal present the paper on the quality production, processing, Market Promotions, research development and various Imports and Exports of tea and coffee for implementation after detail discussion.7. National Coffee Day Festival
Every 1 Marga is declared as "Coffee Day" since 2006 as the new crop comes in that month and goes to the market abroad.
