CONSUMPTION FACTS

The domestic Tea consumption survey has found the consumption of 2.42 cups in a day per person. The annual per capita consumption is 350 grams of Tea and the consumption based on projected population of 20 Million in the country is 8 Million kgs.
If we observe tea consumption on world's perspective, Ireland is in the highest position. Lets see the table.

FORECAST

There is about 16000 hectares area under tea, most of all the areas under tea is in bringing up to bearing Small Holder tea Scheme industry is found very practical. There are more land suitable for tea cultivation in adjoining Districts. Similarly, tea can be planted in other districts besides the declared Tea Zone and area can be extended up to 2000 meters above mean sea level. The target is to extend orthodox in the hills and C.T.C in the Terai within 5 years and bring it to get 40 Thousand hectares. Which will produces 47 million kg of tea in various grades and would earn around 246 million dollars. This will give permanent employment to 102 thousand people in rural sector, which will boost the rural economy and other developmental activities.

This way our strategy is with the ambition to the economic development through the development of Tea industry we expect, Nepal can stay in the front line in the world in orthodox tea production in the world market.
